9/7 Burley Manor Hotel

24.7.86 II

Manor house now hotel. Mid C19. Brick with blue brick decoration, stone dressings,
plain tile roof. 2 storey and attic, 6 irregular bays, 2nd pile to rear of one half
with service wings going off in 2 directions forming one corner of attractive
stableyard. Front has to LH of centre bay, 3 storey slightly projecting gable,
with infront 2 storey porch. Porch has pointed archway with crest over and 3-
transomed, arched-light window. Chequerwork parapet. LH bay and 2nd bay from RH
have Crenellated rectangular bays with 4-transomed-light window. From 1st floor
of LH bay huge moulded chimney stack on front face of wall. Other 1st floor
bays have 2 or 5 transomed-light windows. RH bay has diaper work. Gabled bay has
3-light window in gable and finial over. 2-light half-hipped dormers, 1 to LH
and 3 to RH of gable. Central ridge stack of 2 moulded flues. Gable end walls
with finials. Eaves lower to LH.
