21/202 Forecourt walls and attached outbuilding to north of Orchard Vale

Forecourt walls and outbuilding, probably c.1730. Rubble with cut dressings; outbuilding roof Lakeland slate. Low, thick wall has squat square gatepiers with attached jambs and pyramidal caps; opening to right has re-used chamfered jambs of C17 or older doorway. Wall to left returns to link with outbuilding which has 2 square stone-surround windows, coped left gable with moulded kneelers, and boarded doors to rear. Rear wall links outbuilding and kitchen wing of Orchard Vale (q.v.), and has pair of slender rusticated gatepiers with swept and moulded caps.
