GV II

Detached house. Probably C16. Timber framed walls, infilled and part
rebuilt. Half hipped thatched roof, one brick stack in centre and one nearer
left end. At right angles to road. One storey and attic. Main entrance
front (north) has added porch, part brick, part open on timber posts, with
hipped tiled roof. Part glazed door. Ground floor has one casement with lead
lights, one with glazing bars, and 2 small plain casements. Attic has one
dormer with casements with glazing bars, and one casement with lead lights
under eaves. House of open hall form; main roof of Queen-post form with
smoke-blackened timbers. One ground floor room has large open fireplace with
timber lintel and bread oven. Deep chamfered and stopped ceiling beam in this
room with inscribed initials "WS". Several other deep chamfered beams.
Central ground floor room has C18 moulded timber fireplace surround.
