Bakehouse

Terraced cottage. Probably C18. Stone walls with brick dressings, tiled roof with
parapets to gables, brick stacks. Two storeys. Front wall contains fragment of
medieval carved stone, probably from Bindon Abbey. Modern part-glazed door. Ground
floor has three horizontally sliding sash windows with glazing bars - one in former
doorway. First floor has four similar windows. Main front room has large open
fireplace. Wing at rear - the former bakery - retains some old ovens. Small former
cottage or outbuilding attached to No. 47 on north, now incorporated in the house,
has plastered walls on stone base and tiled roof. One storey and attic. Stable
door. Ground floor has one horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars.
Attic has two gabled dormers with similar sashes.
