Pair of cottages. Probably C18. Walls of brick and flint up to first floor
level, plastered cob above this. Thatched roofs. Brick end and centre stacks.
2 storeys. No.39 has single-storey extension at left end of brick with hipped
thatched roof. Ledged door in brick gabled porch. Ground floor has one casement
window with cast iron glazing - first floor has 2 similar windows. No.40 has
C20 ½-glazed door in open timber porch. Ground floor has 2 casement windows,
one with glazing bars, one with cast iron glazing. First floor has 3 casement
windows, one with glazing bars, 2 with cast iron glazing. Main ground floor
room has large open fireplace with bread oven and one chamfered ceiling beam.
