SY 9978 LANGTON MATRAVERS HIGH STREET (North Side)

House - now 2 cottages. Late C17 - early C18. Rubble stone walls, stone
slate roofs, brick end and centre stacks. 2 storeys and attic. Gabled
stone porch serves both cottages. No. 82 has 2 sash windows with vertical
glazing bars on each floor. No. 84 has one similar window on each floor,
and a hipped dormer with casements. At left end of No. 84, a projecting
stone extension with stone slate roof. Main ground floor room - once 2 rooms
in No. 82 has large open fireplace with timber lintol and bread oven and a
smaller corner fireplace. This house under repair at time of survey -(1984) and a
rear wing under construction. In No. 84, main ground floor room has large
open fireplace with timber lintol and bread oven. RCHM Monument 35. (Dorset
