At one time known as Alphington House. Said to have been the home of Mr Wells
"who broke the bank at Monte Carlo". C18 house with 2 storeys, 7 windows, stucco
front rather unattractively altered circa 1840. Partly rusticated ground floor,
parapet raised in centre, window openings have panels with incised ornament above
sash windows. Good late C18 pedimented porch has been moved from centre. Sash
windows with glazing bars. Slate roof with 2 dormers, Interior: one ground floor
room has C18 Rococo ceiling. 2 "Adam" fireplaces. Fitted cupboards of similar
date in 2 bedrooms.
