The Thatch
II
House. Early to mid C17, floored, heated and extended C18. Altered and
extended C20. Timber frame, brick base, roughcast. Some brick
rebuilding. Steeply pitched thatched roof. 3 bays probably an open hall
originally. 1 storey and attic. Ground floor: entrance to right of
centre, 1 and 2 light flush frame casements, three 2 light attic
casements with thatched eyebrows. 1 bay to left is an early service
addition with an entrance, rebuilt brick wall, slightly lower ridge and
a hipped roof. Horizontal sliding sash in left end wall. Inserted axial
ridge stack to left of centre. Right gable end has an early 3 light
diagonal mullioned window. 1 storey C20 outshut added on right end.
Interior: stop chamfered binding beam, braces in walling, jowled posts,
clasped purlin roof.
