C17 altered and extended to road in C19. Single storey C17 timberframed
forge at right angles to road cased in brick in C19. Red pantile roof.
Now converted to 1 1/2 storey house with small 2 storey C19 brick and
gabled slate roofed front block. Forge has collar and clasped purlin roof
with long curved braces to tie beam. Front block has overhanging eaves,
narrow bargeboards to gable, N and S, a low offset plinth, 2 wide
segmental arched recesses on Gd floor with tall French windows over with
vertical margin lights and segmental gauged arches. Brickwork changes 8
courses above cills indicating 2 periods of building. Front arches
formerly open giving access to forge. Of architectural and industrial
historic interest. Picturesque part of group on W side of road.
