Date 1860. Bedford estate purpose built row of shops leading through to
Pannier Market and adjoining Town Hall. Three storeys Hurdwick stone with yellow
brick dressings. Slate roof. Five gables, 3 with kneelers. 23 windows in all, most
are paired sashes. Ground floor retains most of the original arched shopfronts
divided by octagonal piers. Three 3-centred arched passageways through to market
building. Rear elevation has penticed verandah supported on iron columns.
