´The Fishing Post´ and The Old Schoolhouse

School and master's house, now a single house. 1877. By G E Street for
Sir Tatton Sykes. Red brick with stone dressings, plain tiles. Irregular
plan of main range with 4 projecting gabled wings of varying size and
height. School, to left and to rear, in Gothic revival style, master's
house in Jacobean domestic style. Boarded door in timber architrave with
segmental head to left, similar door in pointed opening with continuous
segmental head to left, similar door in pointed opening with continuous
chamfer to right. 3-light window with plate tracery under segmental head to
left, 4-light mullioned window with king mullion to right. 3-light square-
headed window with mullions and 2 single-light square-headed windows to
centre. First floor has 2-light casement windows, with lead cames,
throughout. Shaped tile cladding to gables, axial stacks with stripwork and
bands, house surmounted by a fleche with cross finial to school roof.
Outbuildings to right not of special interest.
