9/328 Yeolmbridge House

GV II

House. Circa early C19 extended in mid C19 and in late C19. Rendered stone rubble
and brick with rendered timber frame to later C19 remodelling of front. Slate roofs
with gable ends and pyramid roof to central turret on front. Brick end and axial
stacks.
Plan: Triple depth plan. Central entrance into wide hall flanked by dining room and
drawing room with library to rear and service rooms beyond. Verandah added across
front in late C19 and billiard room added in wing to front right.
Exterior: 2 storeys and attic. Symmetrical 3 window front with central late C19 2
storey entrance porch, the ground floor open and the chamber above supported on two
piers. Pyramid capped turret directly to rear and glazed verandah across the front
above the ground floor openings to right and left of porch. Central entrance through
glazed C19 doors. The projecting chamber above has continuous line of windows around
front and side walls and the front gable end is tile hung. To right and left are 2-
storey canted bay windows with glazed doors and sashes on ground floor and sashes
above. To the right the billiard room also added in the late C19 has a symmetrical 6
window front, set forward from main range with 6-pane sashes and central raised
section with four 6-pane windows to front providing top light.
Interior: Particularly complete carpentry and joinery details of the C19 with slate
chimney-pieces from the local Yeolmbridge quarry. Complete fittings and fixtures to
service rooms on rear.
