Santon Farmhouse

GV II

Threshing barn. Late C18 - early C19 for Winn Estate. Rectangular on plan,
forms north side of crew-yard. Coursed limestone rubble with red brick
dressings; pantile roof. North side: 2 storeys, 4 bays. Quoins.
Elliptically-arched cart entrance to right of centre with later C19-C20
brick blocking and board door, ground-floor board hatch door to left beneath
timber lintel. 2 round-headed pitching hatches above with ashlar sills and
board doors with strap hinges. Stepped brick eaves. Hipped roof. All
openings with brick surrounds. South elevation has round-arched entrance
with board door, 3 slit vents to right, 4 slit vents above. Adjoining
buildings to west and south of no special interest. Included for group
value.
