GUILDFORD STREET 1. 5123 No 50 TL 0921 2/5 II
2. Circa 1900 hat factory in debased Jacobean/Queen Anne style. Red brick with stone dressings, Welsh slate roof. Four storeys arranged in 3 bays, outer double and central single; first to third floors defined by full length pilasters between bays and at corners. Central bay is surmounted by Jacobean pediment with stone coping and central keystoned decorated roundel. Plain brick parapet with stone capping. Eaves cornice above band. Five third floor 2-light casements with gauged brick heads and keystone to single central window. Cill band. Second floor windows have gauged brick arches above with keystones springing from stone capitals on small side pilasters. Decorated moulded brickwork in arches. Cill band. First floor windows have recessed panels above with moulded brick swags. Above the central window is a frieze of three swags surmounted by a segmental pediment. Ground floor has cornice and dentil frieze. Central double doors up 3 steps; fanlight and arched head. It is flanked by two wide shallow arches; the right hand one retains a 3-light casement, the left hand one 2-light casement and a doorway up 3 steps. Aprons below windows, right hand side with central basement cellar entry.
