Farmhouse. C15 origin, front wing to left of mid C17, altered and extended late
C18, early - mid C19 and C20. Rubble, rendered, centre front range lined out,
main range has double Roman tiled roof with ridge stack (to right of door) wing
to left pantiled, both wings have gable stacks. Irregular plan formed by
accretion, 2 front wings form U-plan. 2 storeys, front range has 2 windows, all
sashes with wide central pane, central 6-panelled door in C20 gabled porch;
2-storey wing to left has 2 windows, 20-pane sashes at ground floor, sashes with
wide central pane at first floor, gable end has 12-pane fixed light at ground
floor and small 2-light casement at attic level; taller 2-storey wing to right,
probably of late C18, has ground floor sash and 10-pane fixed light, first floor
sash with wide central pane, gable end has late C19 6-pane light at ground floor
and large 2-pane plate-glass window at first floor. Right return of front wing
has 18-pane sash in exposed box at first floor, C20 lean-to with 1/2-glazed door,
gable end of main range has 6-pane light at first floor. Left return of front
wing has 1/2-glazed door and 16-pane sash, 3-light casement with ovolo mullions
under eaves,rear gable end of wing has 2-light attic casement with ovolo mullion
and iron stanchions; 2-storey lean-to block in angle to rear of wing has ground
floor 2-light casement and first floor plate-glass sash with sidelights, 16-pane
sash under eaves, bellcote on gable end of main range. Rear of main range has
4 sashes with wide central pane at first floor, from left at ground floor a
glazed lean-to, C20 bay window, wall built out at base of ridge stack, 2-light
casement and lean-to with door with strap hinges to inner side and 2-light
casement to rear, narrow 2-storey addition to right. Interior: at rear of main
range a 2-light stone window with moulded mullion and cinquefoiled lights, former
partition wall across main range removed, cambered chamfered beams with run-out
stops; fireplace below ridge stack has cambered lintel and bread oven with C19
cast iron door to left. Wing to left has 3-bay roof, only principal rafters and
collars visible, chamfered beams with bar and scroll stops at first floor and
door with chamfered and stopped frame. Claverham Court Farmhouse was the court
house of Claverham, one of the four tithings of Yatton, Claverham, Cleeve and
Wick; formerly had a free chapel endowed with lands. (Sources: Collinson, J. :
