7/215 Terrace to south of Newton Ferrers
GV I

Terrace. Circa late C17. Ashlar granite. Terrace with fine balustrade of bulbous
granite balusters on square bases with square caps. Divided at intervals by square
terminals with moulded cornices and ball finials. Square, simple granite piers with
moulded cornices and ball finials with 15 curved steps leading down in a semi-
circular arrangement to the lower terrace. Stone retaining wall of terrace heavily
buttressed.
Forms part of exceptionally fine terraces which compliment the south garden front of
Newton Ferrers. Further garden wall and gatepiers to the south with further
balustrade and 2 flights of semi-circular steps to the north, directly below the
house. (qv Newton Ferrers House and terrace adjoining to south).
