6/23 Batten's Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. C17, altered C19. 2 storeys and attic, plain tile roof, gabled
to right. Part flint with brick quoins and dressings, part brick. South-west front brick, centre part 2 x light stone mullioned casement windows, C19
lights. C18 arched doorway with 6 panelled door and radiating fanlight under greenhouse porch to left. Gable to right flint with brick dressings, single
attic window 2 windows on each floor below with C19 vertical sliding sashes
in altered openings. At the east end of this wing is a large chimney stack
with three diamond shafts and blocked stone mullioned window. C19 and modern
red brick wing with angular bay to left.
Interior: C17 stair with turned balusters in central, entrance hall, which
has large C17 fireplace. Right wing has large moulded beam supporting first
floor with double roll mould and stop.
