Remains of lodge with attached wall. Early C19, partly demolished mid C20.
For the Wetherby Grange estate. Ashlar magnesian limestone, no roof. 1-
storey, 3-bay, facade with return walls but otherwise demolished; attached
wall on left terminating as a concave quadrant with end pier. Channel-
rusticated plinth; central bay projects and has stylobate of 4 half-round
steps to a Doric distyle in antis semicircular portico with plain frieze,
moulded cornice and parapet of wooden balusters set between stone dies. Side
bays each have a recessed panel containing blind window with blocks to
moulded sills and architraves; entablature and parapet as centre. Wing wall
on left continues to a rusticated pier (site of adjoining gate piers, now
removed); quadrant wall beyond terminates at a square pier with concave cap.
The lodge matches that surviving complete at Moor End, Boston Spa (q.v.).
