Large detached house. Probably early to mid C18 but said to have
been built by Dr John Balderstone in 1690. Ashlar, with rendered
left side. Stone slate roof with gable copings on long cut kneelers.
Central rendered stack. 2 storeys. String course over ground
floor. 5-bay gabled front, with cross windows to 1st floor and
single C19 sashes to ground floor, in original surrounds but with
mullion and transom removed. All double chamfered. Central
doorway with moulded architrave and ornamental lintel. Central
round arched attic window, probably C19, as perhaps is gable. Two
cross windows to 1st floor of left side and small single light, all
double chamfered. Two storey C19 addition to right.

After 1738 the hall was occupied by the Shepley family.
