Boundary stone. Probably C17. Gritstone pillar approximately 1.4 metres high and
in section 0.30 metres by 0.45 metres. Inscribed 'Sutton' surmounted by an incised
cross. Bench mark at base. The stone marks the boundary between the pre-
sent counties of West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire. It was mentioned in C17 and
C18 boundary disputes.
