House, now 2 shops. C17 with later alterations. Rendered, Westmorland
slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays. Ground floor: left (no 3A): C20 shop
entrance with plate-glass windows; right (no 3): C20 half-glazed door with
plate-glass shop windows in C19 casing. Two 4-light C20 windows with
transoms to first floor. Interior: ground floor examined by North Yorkshire
Vernacular Buildings Study Group member in 1977 and not altered since:
walls of squared stone and rubble with timber posts supporting ceiling
beams, one with ovolo moulding. Upper floor also has C17 timbering to side
walls and roof structure. North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular
Buildings Study Group Report Numbers 271 and 271B (1977).
