west of York House

GV II

Former linear farmhouse with byre, now a lambing shed. Mid C17.
Coursed squared tooled sandstone; pantiled roof with stone copings.
1 storey and loft, the latter formed by raising the walls 5 courses
in larger stonework, 4 bays. In right bay a stable door with heavy
lintel and massive quoins; small casement on right of loft door
above. In second bay a partly-blocked doorway, splayed internally,
originally a window; loft door above. Similar loft door in third
bay and partly-blocked fire window below. Stable door with large
quoins in left bay and vent slits in raising courses above.

Interior shows the outline of the original firehood/chimney in
stonework against the left partition wall, reaching almost to roof
ridge. In rear wall a 3-light chamfered stone-mullioned window,
lost one mullion.

The small shelter shed, projecting at front left, is not of special
