3/54 Eshton Mews and the Coach House

Stables and coach house, now in residential use. Probably c.1825 by George Webster for Matthew Wilson. Dressed stone with stone slate roof. U-plan, of two storeys with turreted centrepiece. The windows have slim square mullions where original but three on the main range are converted from Tudor-arched hay doors. In addition the lowest storey of the centrepiece has been entirely altered. The turrets are square but with chamfered corners and end in pyramidal roofs: the roof between them is hipped, and fronted by a parapet which displays the arms of a lion rampant with three stars in chief. The dormers and gables of the wings have kneelers and finials.
