TL 50 NE ABBESS, BERNERS AND Elms Farmhouse
5/20 BEAUCHAMP RODING including brewhouse

House. Mid C17 2 storey, timber framed and plastered, with gabled peg tile
roof. 2 storey rear gabled extension to the SE and gabled C17 staircase tower
on rear. Off-centre modern gabled peg tile roofed porch over original front
door position and C19 small paned timber casements. Massive red brick stack
on rear wall and S end gable stack. Interior has partially exposed frame with
straight bracing, unjowled posts and blocked, C17 'clerestory' window openings
with mullions in-situ. Old door jambs to staircase tower have chamfer with
decorative stop and apparently original 'draft baffle'. Timber framed, black
weatherboarded and rendered, contemporary brew house at rear with gabled pantile
roof. (This last outbuilding included for group value).
