WEETON WITH PREESE
SINGLETON ROAD
Cruck Barn

(Formerly listed as Barn circa 50 metres west of Church Road End Farmhouse, MYTHOP ROAD)

II
Cruck-framed barn, probably C17, altered in C20. Mostly common brick but with
gables mostly of handmade brick, and some patches of similar brick remaining
on north side, slate roof on 2 levels. Rectangular 4-bay plan, the east bay
with steeply-pitched roof and low eaves, the rest rebuilt to higher level;
wagon entrance to 2nd bay on north side. The principal feature of interest is
the interior which contains a full cruck truss at the junction of the old and of the old and new building. This has a yoke, a collar, and vacant housings for a tie-beam.
Listed as now rare example of structure formerly typical of Fylde building.
