Archway. Mid-C17. Ashlar. Moulded semicircular arch on moulded imposts.
Flanked by fluted Ionic pilasters with exaggerated entasis. Entablature
with frieze of ogee section. Above cornice, moulded blocking course
surmounted by coat of arms of Dalton impaling Wyvill flanked by caryatids
and strapwork, and with a satyr mask above. On top of blocking course, a
ball finial at each end. The archway is on the fourth side of the north
courtyard, visually closing it.
