Inn, now house. C16 core with late C18 and mid C19 alterations and additions.
Rubble with brick additions, stone dressings and double Roman tile roofs.
Composite Gothic style. 2 storeys, 7 windows with square tower projecting from
the 5th bay and rising to 3 storeys above parapet. Ground floor windows are C19
casements with marginal glazing, upper floor windows are plate glass sashes all
under segmental heads. One 3-light Gothic window to right hand ground floor.
Tower has 2 Gothick windows to road with Y tracery and original leaded panes in
upper window. Roundel and plain oblong openings in top storey. Doorway in
tower has flush beaded panels formed by Y tracery and moulded architrave. End
rendered stacks. Rear elevation has a 4-light chmafered mullion window and a
2-light edge moulded mullion window. Interior. Ground floor left hand room has
inglenook fireplace with stop chamfered beam and fragments of C16 painted
decoration with crude Vitruvian scrolls in black on grey plaster. A staircase
light has late C18 painted glass with Picturesque scenes. The building was the
former Bell Inn.
