Originally one house, of 3-room and cross-passage plan - now two cottages. Probably
C17. Walls part brick, part plastered cob. Thatched roof. Brick stacks. One
storey and attics.
No. 4 consists of the original kitchen, cross-passage and hall. Central ledged
door. Ground floor has casement windows with cast iron lights. Attic has
half-dormers with casements with glazing bars. Internally, the original kitchen has
large open fireplace with timber lintel. Original cross-passage now contains
stairs. Hall has stone fireplace with shaped oak lintel, and chamfered ceiling
beam.
No. 5 - the original parlour block - has ledged door. Ground floor has casement
window with cast iron lights. Attic has half-dormer with casements. Internally,
the parlour has large open fireplace with shaped timber lintel. One deeply
chamfered ceiling beam and one with smaller stopped chamfers. A good example of its
type.
