GV II*

Churchyard monument. Erected 1934 by Eric Gill. Headstone with shaped top
and moulded surround. Inscription to James Hammett, died 1891, the only one
of the Tolpuddle Martyrs to return to the village. Above inscription, the
date 1834 surrounded by a chain. Graded for its importance in the history of the
Trade Union movement.
