2/71 The Pound House

- II

Detached house. Plan form suggests a C17 date, - but no visible features of
this period. Rubble stone walls, thatched roof; brick end stacks and one right
of door. 2 storeys. 3-room and cross-passage plan. C20 open timber gabled
porch. Ledged door with small glass panel. Second ledged door at right end.
Ground floor has 2 casements with horizontal glazing bars. These and the
original door opening have original stop-chamfered timber lintels. First
floor has 4 casements with centre glazing bar, and some remains of lead lights.
Blocking right of door - possibly remains of projecting bread oven. Internally
some exposed ceiling beams. Original fireplaces part built up. (RCHM Monument 6
