ST 61 SE FOLKE FOLKE VILLAGE

2/89 11-7-51 Folke Manor

GV II*

Country house, late C15 or early C16 east wing, remainder of the house
largely C17 with some later alterations. Coursed rubble with ashlar
dressings. Gable ended slate roofs with stone copings and brick stacks
in various locations. L-plan. Mainly 2 storeys with irregular
fenestration. Windows are mainly C17 mullioned and mullioned and
transomed, some having returned labels. There is a reset C15 window
of 2 pointed lights over tne door. The doorway has a 4-centred head.
2 storied, gabled porch in the intersection of the 2 arms of the L.
It has a round-headed arch with a moulded keystone. Internal features
(RCHM): a number of C17 4-centred moulded fireplaces; C17 doors; C17
panelling; C17 staircase with turned balusters, moulded handrails and
square newels carried up as round posts; moulded ceiling beams; C15/C16
roof trusses with braced collars and curved wind braces to the purlins.
