ST 81 NW EAST ORCHARD

5/2 The Great House
16.8.60 II
House, C17 with C18 rear wing, ashlar, brick and chequered flint and
stone. Gabled, thatched roof with brick stack right and to left of
door. Symmetrical. 2 storeys, 3 window range. Upper floor has
4-light casement windows with glazing bars above. The ground floor
has C19 3-light sashes. Weathered string course. Internal features
(RCHM): 6-panel ceiling with deep chamfered, intersecting ceiling
beams; open fireplace; C17 stairs with moulded close strings, square
newel posts, moulded handrails and turned balusters.
