Detached house, once incorporating Smithy. C17 or C18. Limewashed rubble or
cob, thatched roof. L-plan with gable returned to street, and cross passage
near lower end; two eaves stacks to back. Entry now in internal angle, under 1
storey lean-to addition. Two storeys; gable to street with stack on very large
projecting base, then to right part-glazed door to slate pent hood, 2-light
glazing-bar casement at first floor, left. Return face of extension has 2-light
casement and plank door to hood. Right return has 2-light casement with
transom. Left return has 2-light casement in gable above a blocked doorway with
C20 door to right; 2-light over 3-light casements at stack end. Back has 2
lateral stacks, and a 12-pane sash with various casements. At the north end, on
the corner, is an unexplained semicircular projection. Interior: bathroom has
possible remains of raised cruck; good 2-panel fielded door in dressing room,
moulded classical cornice to one bedroom. Roof has 6 A-frames.
