Stables. Circa 1720-5, contemporary with Widdicombe House (qv); extended in
C19. Slate rubble. Bituminised half-hipped roof partly recald in
corrugated iron. Some old crested ridge tiles survive.
Plan: Rectangular stable range with projecting entrance porch at centre of
front, and with loft above with access via a doorway at the left end where
the ground level is higher. In C19 an outshut was built in front of the
right hand end and another outshut was added to the right hand end.
Exterior: 1 storey plus loft. Symmetrical front with hipped roof
projecting porch at centre. Row of pigeon holes under the eaves with
continuous stone ledge below. One doorway in porch and 3 to left, but wall
to right of porch obscured by the C19 outshut with a lean-to roof. Another
C19 outshut with lean-to roof on right hand end. Loft doorway on left hand
end.
Interior: Chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops. Later boarded stall
partitions, iron railed above. The roof structure at the left hand end
rebuilt in C20.
