4/4 Muse Hill

- II
Tenement farmhouse, at one time probably in 2 occupations. Probably early C18.
Rendered stone rubble and cob. Slate roof with gable ends. Axial brick stack and
stack at rignt gable end.
Plan: 3 rooms in line, with direct entry into the 2 larger rooms at each end. The
right end room was a kitchen with staircase in rear left-hand corner. Solid wall
partition between this and smaller room to left. Large room at left end may
originally have been occupied as a separate cottage, a staircase has been removed in
C20 and possibly an internal partition.
Exterior: 2 storeys. 3-window range. Early C20 fenestration. 2-light and 3-light
casements, 2 panes per light. Plank door towards left end and stone rubble porch
with gabled slate roof, wall benches and plank inner door.
Interior: Brief interior inspection suggested few alterations have taken place
since C19. Right end room has chamfered cross beam and chamfered fireplace lintel
on whicn JB 1817 is carved.
