9/4 Gilts farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. 1680 date, with initials I. & E.W., on lintel to reset door; later
additions and alterations. Whitewashed rubble with quoins. Graduated slate
roofs. 2 storeys, 6 bays overall with wing to rear. Original 4-bay house had
gable entry but cross-passage plan was introduced, and original door reset, when
2-bay extension was added to north end. Panelled door in chamfered doorcase
with false four-centred head and dated lintel. Single window to left, 2 to
right and 4 above, all Yorkshire sashes with glazing bars. Original house has
blocked 2-light mullioned windows and fire window, all under continuous
hoodmoulds. Stone mid and end chimneys.
