7/160 Lych gate and mounting block
- south west of Church of St Maddern
GV II
Lych gate over style and mounting block. Circa 1903. Built as war memorial
to those who died in the Boer War (1899-1902). Granite ashlar side walls, dressed
granite steps, stile and mounting block. Oak roof structure with open gable
ends carried on paired shaped oak corbels. Dry slate roof.
Rectangular-plan stile with steps at the front, mounting block adjoining at
the right and straight side walls carrying the roof.
The roof structure has 2 trusses with tie beams and crown posts with arched
bracing.
