Three houses; possibly originally built as poorhouses. Early C19, with some C20
alterations. Painted stone rubble and cob. Bitumenised slate roof with ridge tiles
and gable ends. Gable end stacks with wide brick shafts.
Plan: To right, a pair of back-to-back houses, with Church Town Cottage to front and
Churchgate Cottage to rear; each of one-room plan, heated from the gable end stack to
right. Lanherne Cottage is to left, of 2-room plan, with one room to front and one
to rear, heated from the gable end stack to left. This may originally have been a
pair of back-to-back houses.
Exterior: 2 storeys, nearly symmetrical 3-window front. Church Town Cottage to right
has panelled and glazed door, and early C19 16-pane sash at ground and first floor to
right. At first floor, to centre, there is a shared window, with plate-glass sash
to left and 8-pane sash to right. Small C20 addition at ground floor to right.
Lanherne Cottage has later C19 4-pane sash at ground and first floor and half-glazed
door to right. At the right end is a 4-pane sash at ground floor to right. At the
rear, Churchgate Cottage to left has 4-pane sash at ground floor and 6-pane sash at
first floor. Half-glazed door to right.
Lanherne Cottage to right has 4-pane sash at ground and first floor to right and door
to left. First floor central shared window.
