Housen now hotel. 1820-1840. Rendered, slate roof. A villa set
back and up from the sea-front promenade, with an attached
entry range from Greenhill.
The sea front: 3 storeys and attic, 5 windows; 2 small dormers
to a hipped roof above sashes, at second floor 6-pane and
first floor large 12-pane, with shutters, above a plain lower
sash in each case. The centre light at these levels is painted
in. At ground floor are 2 bold flat-roofed bays with
12:12:12-pane sashes, and a central panelled door with
architrave and floating cornice. Moulded cornice, blocking
course and parapet, central ridge stack.
The range to Greenhill has various sashes at the first floor,
above a projecting single-storey hipped range with a portico
to segmental pediment, ball finials, and square pilasters with
sunk panels over a pair of doors to a segmental head with
large keystone.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
This is one of a group, immediately N of the main Esplanade
terraces, marking the furthest reach of early C19 development
in this direction.
