GV II

House, rear formerly used as bakery and shop. C18, re-roofed 1913. Cement washed
slatestone rubble and cob walls, scantle slate hipped roof with brick chimney over
side walls. 2 room, double depth, central stair plan. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3
window south front. Central doorway and ground floor left window now within C20
glazed porch. 6-pane sash right. Wooden lintels. 4-paned horned sashes to first
floor. Irregular rear but street entrance front has original doorway right of centre
within brick porch, 18-pane former shop window to right of this and original doorway
to baker's shop extension under lower roof line to right. Doorway to left with C20
glazed door and slated hood on brackets is probably C20. 12-pane horizontal sliding
sash stair window is midway at mid-floor level. Similar window to first floor right
and 16-pane sash to first floor of extension. Street corner wall is splayed for
carriage access and has tall step, possibly mounting block. Wide ground floor window
with pair of 8-pane sashes to right of east vail and 16-pane sash over. Timber
lintels to original openings.
Interior is little altered with surviving bread ovens, original dog-leg stair, some
C18 2-panel doors and C18 niches with shaped shelves in right front room.
