II
Formerly farmhouse, now 3 houses: dated 1686 with some C20
alterations and additions. Ashlar buff Manley sandstone, Welsh slate
roof, stone ridge, brick ridge chimney and similar on crosswing.
H-shaped lobby-entry plan. 2-storey, 4-bay front. Chamfered plinth,
cyma-moulded band at 1st floor. End-bays project forward under
stone-coped and kneelered gables. Inserted doorways and 4-light
chamfered stone mullioned windows below, 4-light windows with
round-headed lights above, under flat cyma-moulded hoods. In central
2 bays, the band rises above the original doorway with a segmental
arch and an inscribed lintel reading T T with a lozenge
1686
motif. 5-light chamfered stone mullioned window to the left and
4-light wooden casement above. Fenestration survives on remaining
sides but some mullions lost. Small C20 additions to right and rear.
Interior: No. 3 has a quarter-round moulded ceiling beam. Remainder
not inspected but no features reported.
A substantial house, but very conservative for its date in plan and
detailing.
