Formerly doctor's house and surgery now house and shoe repairers:
c1830. House is in Flemish bond, orange-pink brick, with buff
sandstone dressings. Welsh slate roof and 2 brick chimneys.
2-storey, asymmetrical 3-bay front. Ashlar sandstone plinth. Windows
are 12-pane sashes under gauged and rubbed cambered brick heads with
panelled stone sills below, plain stone sills above. (Upper window,
central bay blocked). To left bead moulded, semi-circular headed
doorcase with moulded imposts and carved keystone. Contains fanlight
with radial glazing bars and marginal lights, and an 8-panelled
bolection moulded door. Projecting cornice and low blocking course.
Added to left is former surgery. Stuccoed 2-storey, 3-bay front. 2 6
panelled doors to left and centre. Right end bay has 16-pane sash
above and C20 window below. In front of both buildings is a flagged
pavement raised on rubble walls with steps at right end and to surgery
door. In front of No. 12 are heavy spear railings with light spear
railings,scrolls and dog bars in front of remainder. 1 gate for
mounting a horse survives other gates lost.
