ACTON C.P. DORFOLD PARK
SJ 65 SW
Gate in walled garden
4/13
south-west of Dorfold
- Hall
GV
II

Gate and piers giving access to the walled garden from the Hall, circa
1824. Stone dressed brickwork and wrought iron gate. High standing
flush stone dressed square piers with moulded plinths and moulded
projecting caps supporting stone eagles. The opening has a single
wide tall gate flanked by tall narrow metal infill panels: these have
a serpentine zig-zag motif but the basic gate design is of square bars
with spears to top rail and dog-bar. The overthrow has the Tollemache
fret device flanked by scrolls and with a cross finial based on spears
and scrolls.
