Set of four statues. C18, Venetian, attributed to Giacomo Cassetti. Istrian stone. Statues are labelled and represent the four continents:
a) Europa, draped and crowned, holding a domed temple and a sceptre, with a small horse behind at her feet.
b) Asia, draped, holding flowers and a censer, with a small camel behind at her feet.
c) Africa, nude, holding a cornucopia full of wheat and a small beast, probably a basilisk, with a small lion at her feet.
d) America, nude with feathered skirt, collar and arm-bands and a string of beads, with one foot on a man's head and a large lizard behind.
All on C19 stone pedestals with moulded bases, panels and cornices.
Formerly sited at the gates by the Grand Lodge. (Catalogue Nos. 71-74)
