Pair of houses, now flats with attached balustrade and piers. c1830-60. Stucco over brick with concealed roof and iron balcony. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and basement, 6 first-floor windows with set-back 2-storey, single entrance bays to sides. Stucco detailing includes ground-floor horizontal rustication, first-floor band surmounted by quoins to angles; frieze, cornice and blocking course to main range; cornice and low parapet with panels to side ranges. 1/1 and 2/2 sashes throughout with 6/6 sashes to basement. Entrances: flights of roll-edged steps to 4-panel doors with fanlights in architrave with tooled arches with keystones on imposts, with low panelled stucco walls to sides of steps. Returns have full-height canted bay and 6/6 round-arched staircase sash with radial glazing to head. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: balustrade between piers has ornate balusters. An identical design to Nos 50 and 52 (qv). Group value with Nos 3-19 (odd) and 2-18 (even) Sydenham Villas Road (qqv).
