2/358 Cider-house at Lamacraft Farm
-
GV II
Cider house. Probably late C18. Rendered cob and stone rubble with a red pantile
roof, gabled at ends.
Plan: Rectangular on plan, gable end to the street. Village dances are said to have
been held in the loft.
Exterior: Lofted cider house. 3-bay front with a door in the centre and loft door
above ; timber windows to left and right, 1 to each floor. The left return, facing
the street, has a round-headed louvred window.
Interior: Very complete with a stone floor with a drain, chamfered crossbeams with
runout stops, and a cider press, still in use. Loft not inspected.
An unusual example of a large and very well-preserved cider house.
