TL 52 SE HATFIELD BROAD OAK

House. Mid C18. Of red brick with gabled pegtile roofs. Large house with
parapet gabled wings at each end of front, refaced in C20 brickwork. All of 2
storeys with attics with a pair of symmetrically disposed ridge line stacks and
2 gabled dormers in front roof slope with old metal casements with leaded
lights. The 2 wings have a double hung sashwindow with small panes under a tile
infilled semi-circular brick arch and over a similar window on the ground floor.
The recessed centre has 5 double hung sash windows with small panes and
segmental heads, a mid wall string course and 4 similar windows on the ground
floor with central entrance door. This has flat cornice hood on carved console
brackets and 6 panel door. Internally, there is an early C19 staircase,
panelling and cupboard doors and coved headed niche with serpentine shelves.
