Cross,later altered to guidepost. Medieval made into a guide post in 1737.
Square gritstone pier about seven feet tall. Inscribed at the top on the south
side 1737. Overhanging square top inscribed HOPE on south face, SHEFIELD (sic)
on east face, GLOSSOP on north face, and EDALE on west face.
