Bowden Head Farmhouse
II

Farmhouse. C17, altered in C18, restored in C20. Coursed gritstone rubble with
large quoins. Gritstone dressings. Stone slate roof, except south-west slope
in slate. Stone coped gabled bay with moulded kneelers. Stone gable end and
large ridge stacks. Two storeys, four bays. South elevation - advanced gabled
bay with central 3-light chamfered mullion window. To east 3-light recessed and
chamfered mullion window with dripmould over. To west, plank door with flush
surround and 3-light flush mullion window. Above, similar window. Over door,
2-light chamfered mullion window. To east, above window with dripmould on
inserted lintel inscribed 'CSES 1672 and IL 1816'. Over that a 2-light mullion
window.
