NY 10 SW NETHER WASDALE

14/81 Woodhow farmhouse with attached byres, area walls, & pump

Farmhouse with byre range adjoining east end and pump set against external south-east angle of area wall. House dated 1757 on porch head, with initials W. & D.N.; lead pump head dated 1826, with initials S. & R.E. Later additions and alterations. House pebble-dashed rubble; byres slobbered, coursed rubble with quoins. Graduated slate roofs with rendered end chimneys. 2 storeys. 3-bay house has central plank door in porch with monolithic stone cheeks and moulded head; casement to left with single sash to right and 2 above, all in stone surrounds. 3-bay byre range has 3 plank doors and 2 small fixed windows with 2 loft accesses above. Coursed rubble area wall, c2½ high, to front of house; lead pump (now disconnected) in stone housing built of monolithic slabs with shaped head.
